Five checks before install day.
Complete these on the new computer before ShopData is installed.
-
Windows updates and .NET 4.8
Before installing ShopData, make sure every Windows update is done and the computer has .NET Framework 4.8 or higher.
-
A separate login, with local admin
The user login name cannot be the same as the computer name, or Microsoft SQL will not run properly. The login needs LOCAL admin rights. It does not need Domain admin rights.
-
Keep older versions installed
If a previous version of ShopData is on any PC, do not uninstall it. We may need files from it to carry over into the latest version, and we will connect to that computer remotely with NetSupport to collect them.
-
Machine connection and printer
Sending CNC files to your table controller by serial cable? The new computer needs a 9-pin serial port or a USB-to-serial adapter. Sending them over the network? Make sure the location is mapped. To print Nest Summaries, install a printer.
-
Ready to install
Once everything above is done, we can install and set up the latest version of ShopData.
